The Las Vegas Sun’s NFL handicapping contest felt the reverberations from the monumental officiating blunder that ended this week’s Monday Night Football.
Like the majority of bettors in Las Vegas, Taylor Bern picked the Green Bay Packers to cover the three-point spread against the Seattle Seahawks in the game. A win would have evened his overall record with Ray Brewer’s and tied Case Keefer for the best mark of the week.
He felt confident with seconds remaining and Green Bay leading 12-7. Everyone knows what happened from there: The replacement referees ruled a Packers interception as a Seahawks touchdown.
Gamblers around town were outraged and likely vowed not to bet the NFL until the real officials returned. Well, they’re in luck because Week 4 will mark the first set of games this season without replacements.
This contest, in which the sports staff picks six sides or totals per week, was never in danger of ending. We’ll trudge forward no matter the situation.
