The Las Vegas Wranglers surrendered three first-period goals today in a 5-2 loss to the visiting Idaho Steelheads at the Orleans Arena.

The game included 86 penalty minutes and was called with 1.7 seconds remaining after three game misconduct-penalties were issued.

The Wranglers fell behind 3-0 about 15 minutes into the game, but scored twice in the final five minutes of the first period to trim the deficit to one goal. Jeff May and Geoff Paukovich found the back of the net for Las Vegas.

However, the Wranglers wouldn’t score the rest of the night, losing their fifth straight game.

The teams play again at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the Orleans Arena, with the first 1,000 children 12-and-under receiving a free Paukovich shirt. If Paukovich, the Wranglers’ captain, scores or posts an assist, fans will receive a free taco as part of the “Pauko Taco Night” promotion.
