51s blank Reno to take three of four games in series

The Las Vegas 51s used a five-run fifth inning Friday in beating the visiting Reno Aces for the third straight night, 7-0.

The 51s limited Reno to just two runs in the three-game winning streak, taking three of four games in the series at Cashman Field.

Jamie Hoffmann had a grand slam in the fifth inning outburst and finished with five RBIs. Collin Cowgill went 3-for-3 with a solo home run in the first inning to give Las Vegas the lead for good and Wilmer Flores scored two runs.

D.J. Mitchell gave up six hits in six innings to record the win.

The 51s open a series at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the Fresno Grizzlies.
