Las Vegas Wranglers forward Geoff Irwin chops at a loose puck after falling to the ice during a penalty kill against the Fort Wayne Komets at the Orleans Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated for the second straight night at the Colorado Eagles, falling 4-3 after Colorado’s Trent Daavettila scored the winning goal with 42 seconds remaining.

Las Vegas scored once in each period, taking an early 1-0 lead in the first on a goal from Geoff Paukovich just 2:36 into the game. Jeff May scored in the second for Las Vegas, but Colorado tallied a pair of goals in the period for a 3-2 advantage.

Las Vegas evened the game at 3-all on Geoff Irwin’s goal three minutes into the third, but Colorado found the back of the net last for the win.

Las Vegas (5-10 overall) remains in third place of the Pacific League with 11 points, which is 13 points behind first-place Ontario.

The Wranglers’ five-week road trip continues Tuesday at the Idaho Steelheads. They return to the Orleans Arena Dec. 6 to face Bakersfield. The Smithereens will perform a postgame concert.
