Las Vegas Sun sports reporters discuss "GPS Friday", when they headed out to North Las Vegas to get a handle on a few non-Henderson, non-Gorman teams. Who's better: Palo Verde or Arbor View? Is Centennial still a cinch for the playoffs despite a rough start? Listen for a conversation on those topics as well as many more.

A new era for Sierra Vista’s football program can officially begin now.

The Mountain Lions nabbed the first win since John Foss became their coach Friday night, and they did it in style. Sierra Vista obliterated Rancho 53-7.

“It was a good win for us,” Foss said. “It’s a stepping stone to better things in the future.”

Sierra Vista led 46-0 at halftime to activate the running clock for the final 24 minutes. Octavious Payne and Maliek Broady each had multiple touchdowns of different varieties.

Payne returned a punt for a score, while Broady scooped a fumble and found the end zone.

Foss was pleased with how the team responded after getting walloped against Cimarron-Memorial last week.

“I felt like we could have played better in the first game and we made some good strides this week,” Foss said. “I look forward to a challenge from Foothill next week. They’re a great team, so we’ll use it as a barometer to see where we are.”
