Pedestrian struck by vehicle Monday on Owens Avenue dies

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Monday night in the east Las Vegas Valley has died, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

About 9 p.m., 31-year-old Kurtis Schmidt was crossing Owens Avenue, between Nellis and Lamb boulevards outside of a designated crosswalk when he was hit by Jaguar XF traveling eastbound, Metro Police said.

He was taken to UMC Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead Tuesday, the Coroner’s Office said.

This marks the 65th traffic-related fatality this year in Metro’s jurisdiction.
