A Las Vegas man hit and killed three pedestrians in a crosswalk Wednesday after he fled the scene of a crash and subsequently hit several other vehicles, according to Metro Police.

Six other people were injured, including the driver and a 26-year-old Las Vegas woman who was in critical condition, police said.

The driver, Daniel Becker, 31, showed signs of impairment and was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on counts of DUI and reckless driving, police said. He suffered only minor injuries, police said.

The pedestrians, all from Las Vegas, were ages 19, 49 and 69. Their names have not been released, pending notification of their families.

According to police, Becker was driving a Ford Expedition south on Eastern Avenue about 3:15 p.m. when he rear-ended a car south of Viking Road. He fled and hit another vehicle just north of Flamingo Road, crossing the median and striking the pedestrians at the intersection, police said.

All three pedestrians were declared dead at the scene, police said.

The Expedition continued south and hit three other vehicles, including a pickup truck that then crashed into a car, police said. A number of other vehicles were hit by debris. In total, a dozen vehicles were involved in the incident, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
