Sierra Vista beat Desert Oasis so badly Friday night that even its linemen got in on the big-play fun.

Senior offensive lineman Isaiah Palelei scored the first touchdown of his career, falling on a fumble on the end zone, and defensive tackle Ty Asuncion snagged an interception. Those were only a couple of the exploits in a commanding 49-0 victory.

“We had a running clock at the end of the first half and were able to play a lot of different kids,” Sierra Vista coach John Foss said. “It was a team effort.”

Junior Aaron Kahaleauki was the only player to score twice, as the rest of Sierra Vista’s points were spread around. Bryan LaGrange, Taelase Gaoteote and Isaiah Zavala were among the other Mountain Lions to find the end zone.

It was a fourth straight win for the Mountain Lions, which are looking forward to a step-up in competition next week in welcoming Durango for another league game.
