Police: Boy, 1, hit and killed by vehicle at apartment complex

A 1-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle and killed Sunday night at an apartment complex in the northeast valley, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 6:45 p.m. at the complex in the 4700 block of Sphinx Way, near Cheyenne Avenue and Lamb Boulevard, police said.

The child was in the street when he was hit by an unidentified blue, four-door vehicle, police said. The vehicle left without stopping, police said.

The boy, whose name was not released, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was declared dead.

Police did not release any further description of the vehicle.
