Ray Brewer and Case Keefer recap all the action from rivalry week, and spend extra time looking ahead to a few of the evenly-matched games in week 9.

Quarterback Kenyon Oblad isn’t the only record-setting member of the Liberty Patriots.

Classmate Crishaun Lappin, a senior defensive end, set the school record for single-game and career sacks in a 42-0 win over Silverado Friday night. Lappin had 5.5 sacks to bring his career total to 24.5.

“He plays every position on the D-line and is a force to be reckoned with,” Liberty coach Rich Muraco said.

He can play most spots on offense, too, as Lappin later added a rushing touchdown. Aided by Lappin’s pressure, senior cornerback Octavian Bell had a long interception return for a touchdown.

The Patriots’ defense has now scored three touchdowns in Southeast league play. They’ve only given up two touchdowns.

“That’s something we’re really proud of as a defensive unit,” Muraco said.

Offensively, Oblad led the way as usual with four touchdown passes and more than 200 yards to add cushion to the state passing yard record he broke last month.

Marquez Powell caught two of the touchdown passes, while Lehi Ausage and Terris Hamilton hauled in the others.
