Bishop Gorman demolishes Bonanza

Bishop Gorman Plays DeMatha

L.E. Baskow

Bishop Gorman players and coaches stream onto the field to face DeMatha of Maryland on Friday, August 25, 2017.

Bishop Gorman picked up right where it left off in its first game against local competition this season.

Gorman destroyed host Bonanza, 58-0, on Saturday morning. The Gaels went up 40-0 in the first quarter before toning down on offense but never letting up their defensive intensity.

Senior defensive back Jordan Lee had two interceptions, while sophomore Micah Bowens had one returned for a touchdown. That complemented senior quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s three total touchdowns, two passing and one rushing.

One of Robinson’s scoring strikes went to senior tight end Brevin Jordan, who has now found the end zone in four straight games.

“This is the second part of our season,” Bishop Gorman coach Kenny Sanchez said. “We put an emphasis on league games. Our non-league games really have no bearing on if we make the playoffs. We still have to play well in these games to put us where we want to be. We’re focused on our goals.”
