Police: Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in northeast valley

A pedestrian was killed while crossing the street Monday night in a hit-and-run in the northeast valley, according to Metro Police.

The 61-year-old Las Vegas woman was crossing Pecos Road south of Canoga Avenue about 10:40 p.m. when she was hit by a dark gray Dodge Durango, police said. The driver of the SUV, which was headed north, did not stop after the collision, police said.

The woman, who was not in a crosswalk, was taken to University Medical Center, where she died, police said. Her name was not released, pending notification of her family.
