Officers responding to a call of a man trying to break into vehicles in a Henderson neighborhood Tuesday morning determined they’d found a slaying suspect they’d been looking for, according to city police.

Edward Johnson, 22, was jailed without further incident on counts of murder, unlawful possession of a bludgeoning device, attempted grand larceny, and attempt to buy, possess or receive stolen property, police said.

He is suspected in the April 17 slaying of a man whose body was found inside an RV at a Henderson mobile home park in the 1800 block of Ward Drive, near Boulder Highway and Sunset Road, officials said.

Further details on where he was arrested or how he was identified as a homicide suspect were not released.

“This case exemplifies our officers' dedication to the residents of the city of Henderson and our commitment to work with local law enforcement agencies to bring a swift conclusion to such a violent crime,” said Henderson Police Chief LaTesha Watson in a statement.

Johnson is being held in the Henderson Detention Center, police said.
