An officer shot and wounded a woman who was chasing two people with a shovel Saturday night in the east valley, according to Metro Police.
Officers were dispatched about 10:15 p.m. to the 3400 block of Big Sur Drive to investigate a report of person armed with a shovel and threatening neighbors, police said.
An officer spotted a woman with a shovel chasing a security guard and a neighbor, police said. He ordered her to drop the shovel, but she began to advance toward a person, and the officer fired multiple rounds, police said.
The woman was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in serious but stable condition, police said. Her name was not released.
