Las Vegas woman who escaped from prison caught in Nye County

PAHRUMP — A Las Vegas woman who escaped from state prison has been arrested after authorities say she led them on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

Nye County sheriff's Sgt. Adam Tippetts says 42-year-old Kimberly Brake was arrested Sunday after driving a few miles.

Tippetts says Brake got out of a pickup truck with a flatbed trailer with her hands up. He says she told authorities she was afraid to stop because she had escaped from state prison in July. He says she also had two warrants for her arrest and a suspended driver's license.

The sheriff's office says she was booked into the county jail on suspicion of grand larceny, possession of a stolen vehicle, disobeying a peace officer, speeding and being a habitual criminal.

It was unclear late Monday whether she had an attorney.
