Foothill rebounded from its first loss of the season by pulling away from Green Valley for a 46-25 victory on Thursday.
Junior quarterback Koy Riggin threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half (one each to Jordan Blakely and Elijaah Bryant) to give Foothill a 13-12 lead at halftime, and the Falcons extended their lead in the third quarter when Riggin hit Braeden Wilson for another score.
Senior defensive back Javier Vasquez returned an interception for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Foothill coach Marty Redmond said it was imperative to play well after dropping a 40-7 decision to Liberty last week.
“This was an important game for us,” Redmond said. “We had to rebound from last week, when I didn’t think we played particularly well. To bounce back on a short week, to be able to come out and execute on both sides was really important to us. I thought we did a pretty good job of it.”
