Metro Police say they are investigating the shooting death of a man found this morning along a street in the central valley.
A motorist discovered the victim about 8:10 a.m. in the 1100 block of Newport Street, near Washington Avenue and Pecos Road, Lt. Ray Spencer said.
Patrol officers performed CPR on the man, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Spencer said.
Neighbors later reported hearing gunshots, but no witnesses have come forward, Spencer said. “We are canvassing the area to see if anybody saw or witnessed anything,” he said.
Police have also not located any security cameras in the area that might have captured the shooting, Spencer said.
The name of the victim, whom Spencer said was in his late 20s and did not live in the area, has not been released.
No suspects have been identified, Spencer said.
