Woman, 18, killed when pickup full of teens overturns

An 18-year-old woman was killed Sunday night when a pickup full of teens overturned in the north valley, throwing two people from the bed of the truck, according to Metro Police.

The crash happened about 10:15 p.m. on a dirt access road between Centennial and Tropical parkways, police said. The truck was headed south when it went out of control and rolled down an embankment, police said.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue medics performed life-saving measures on the two teens ejected from the back of the truck and one person inside the vehicle, police said.

All three were taken to University Medical Center, where the 18-year-old woman died, police said. The Clark County Coroner's Office identified her this morning as Summer Potochan of Las Vegas.

Two passengers, both 17-year-old girls from Las Vegas, suffered serious injuries, while two other teens suffered minor injuries, police said.

The driver, an 18-year-old Las Vegas woman, was not hurt, police said. She did not show any signs of impairment and remained at the scene, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
