1 dead, 1 wounded in shooting at east Las Vegas party

A shootout at an east Las Vegas house party early today left one man dead and another hospitalized with a gunshot wound, according to Metro Police.

Gunshots rang out about 3:15 a.m. in the 5700 block of Ruby Creek Drive, near Sahara Avenue and Sloan Lane, police said.

Officers found a man’s body in the doorway of the house, police said. The victim died from multiple gunshot wounds.

During the investigation, detectives learned a second man had driven himself to University Medical Center, where he was being treated for his injuries, police said. He is believed to be in stable condition.

Police said the shootout happened as attendees were leaving the party. It wasn’t clear if either gunshot victim fired weapons.

This is the second slaying at a party investigated by Metro detectives in less than two weeks. On July 22, a man was stabbed to death during a pool party attended by more than 200 people at a rental house in the 4800 block of West Richman Avenue.
