Nevada’s coronavirus death toll has surpassed 1,000, Gov. Steve Sisolak said today, calling it “a sobering reminder that we must remain vigilant and do all that we can to slow the spread while we’re in the throes of this horrific pandemic.”

In a statement, Sisolak extended his condolences to the families and friends of those who have been lost and pledged to do everything possible to fight the virus.

The governor also asked all Nevadans to do their part. “Wear a face covering, practice social distancing, and above all, take seriously our personal responsibility to help slow the spread and protect those around us,” he said.

Nevada has recorded more than 58,000 cases of coronavirus, most of them in the Las Vegas area.
