The Smith Center for the Performing Arts announced today that it was canceling shows through the end of the month, amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The downtown Las Vegas theater said all venues would go dark effective 10 p.m. Sunday through March 31. The Smith Center has more than 20 performances scheduled during that time.

In an email message to patrons listed as a “health and safety update,” the center asked people to hold onto their tickets.

“We will reschedule as many events as possible and will be in touch with ticket holders about refunds and other options soon,” the message said.

“We look forward to welcoming you back once we get the all-clear signal from government officials,” the message said.

Seventeen cases of the coronavirus have been identified in Clark County, with another three in Northern Nevada, according to health officials.

The Smith Center is among numerous entertainment venues canceling events in Las Vegas, which include NHL hockey, casino nightclubs and dayclubs, concerts and festivals.
