Two more people with coronavirus disease have died in Clark County, bringing the total number of virus-related deaths in Nevada to four, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.

The individuals are a woman in her 70s with underlying medical conditions and a man in his 60s, also with underlying medical conditions, officials said.

The previous two casualties were a woman in her 60s and a man in his 60s, both with underlying medical conditions.

All four virus-related fatalities in the state have been in Clark County.

As of Monday afternoon, 212 people in Clark County have tested positive for the coronavirus, officials said.

The district reports positive tests from the Southern Nevada Public Health Laboratory and private laboratories, and as more tests are done, more positive results will be reported, official said.

“While the increase in positive case reports may cause concern for the public, it allows the Health District to better investigate cases, advise patient contacts, and serves as reinforcement for the public about the importance of ‘staying home for Nevada,” the district said in a statement.

According to the state Department of Health and Human Services, a total of 3,735 people have been tested for the coronavirus in Nevada, and 245 have tested positive.

Gov. Steve Sisolak on March 17 ordered all Nevada casinos and nonessential businesses to close for 30 days in an effort to slow the spread of the virus. Residents have also been asked to stay home as much as possible and practice responsible “social distancing.”
