The number of people who visited Las Vegas in October jumped nearly 10% from the previous month, according to a report released today.
Just under 1.9 million visitors flocked to the city in October, up 9% from September but down 49% from October 2019, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Through October, Las Vegas has attracted about 16.3 million visitors this year, less than half of what it welcomed during the first 10 months of 2019.
The coronavirus pandemic has been especially hard on the travel and tourism industries.
Hotel occupancy for October was about the same as in September, according to the LVCVA.
The average occupancy rate at Las Vegas Strip hotels increased by less than 1% to 46.8%. For October 2019, Strip hotel occupancy was above 91%.
The average daily rate for a hotel room on the Strip was $111.54, down 5% from September and off 24% from October 2019.
The average daily rate for a downtown Las Vegas hotel room was about $68, up roughly 5% from September.
