Brush fire temporarily shuts down freeway near Las Vegas Strip

Interstate 15 was temporarily shut down this morning near the Las Vegas Strip because of a brush fire, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 6:10 a.m. near the railroad tracks in the 3100 block of Twain Avenue, officials said.

The Nevada Highway Patrol was advised to shut down the freeway, and the Union Pacific Railroad was notified to close the tracks, officials said.

Firefighters knocked down the blaze by about 6:35 a.m., officials said.

Nobody was injured, and the cause of the fire was not determined, officials said.
