Police: Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run east of Las Vegas Strip

A pedestrian died after a a hit-and-run incident early today on Flamingo Road, east of the Las Vegas Strip, according to Metro Police.

A vehicle, described only as a Mercedes-Benz, was headed west on Flamingo about 1 a.m. when it hit the pedestrian, who was in a crosswalk at Burnham Avenue, police said. The vehicle left the scene, police said.

The pedestrian, a 60-year-old man from Oceanside, Calif., was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died, police said. His name was not released, pending notification of his family.
