Play begins at the final table during the World Series of Poker at the Rio in Las Vegas Sunday, July 14, 2019.

The World Series of Poker is moving to Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas next year, with actor Vince Vaughn serving as master of ceremonies, Caesars Entertainment announced today.

The series, which started in 1970 at the old Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas, has been contested at the Rio for the last 17 years. Next year will be the first time the tournament will be held on the Strip.

The 2022 series will run from May 31 to July 19, with the full schedule expected to be released in January.

Vaughn, an avid poker player, said he was honored to be named master of ceremonies.

"Poker has long been one of my favorite sports, so to be a part of something as historic as the WSOP finally moving to the Strip is an absolute dream,” Vaughn said in a statement. “Vegas baby, Vegas.”
