Police: Woman in wheelchair hit by car, killed

A woman in a motorized wheelchair was hit by a car and killed Sunday while crossing a street in the south valley, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 5 p.m. at Las Vegas Boulevard South and Agate Avenue. The woman was crossing Las Vegas Boulevard in an “implied crosswalk” when she entered the path of the car and was struck, police said.

The woman, a 58-year-old Las Vegas resident, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, police said. Her name was not released, pending notification of family.

The driver, a 70-year-old Las Vegas man, suffered minor injuries, police said. He did not show signs of impairment and remained at the scene, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
