A fire at the MSG Sphere construction site near the Strip led to an emergency response Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Clark County Fire Department.

Smoke from near the top of the large circular structure caught the attention of someone in a Metro Police air unit shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, the release stated.

A “smoldering fire” was spotted on top of the structure, which led to a response from the fire department.

The first alarm response was determined in order to battle the blaze, Deputy Fire Chief Warren Whitney said in a release, and arriving units made contact with construction personnel. After determining the fire was electrical, firefighters turned off electricity where the fire was and extinguished the remaining flames, Whitney said.

It’s unknown, according to the release from the fire department, what caused the fire or how much the estimated damages are.

No injuries were reported. In all, eight fire engines, along with the fire department’s “heavy rescue unit” were sent to the site.

Work resumed shortly after the fire was cleared, MSG Entertainment said in an email.

Located at the corner of Sands Avenue and Koval Lane, the Sphere is a 366-foot-tall future entertainment venue.

The futuristic project is a partnership between the Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. and the Venetian. The $1.8 billion complex is expected to open next year.
