Officers shot a man Tuesday night who opened fire on them after a female flagged them down for help, according to Metro Police.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
The shooting happened about 10:40 p.m. in the 6100 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South, near Sunset Road, police said.
A female summoned the officers for assistance and while they were talking to her, the man got out of a nearby vehicle and started shooting, police said.
The officers returned fire, striking the man, who ran into a nearby desert area, police said. Officers chased the man and took him into custody, police said.
No additional details were immediately released.
