Human remains were discovered Monday at Lake Mead, according to a report from the National Park Service.

Rangers received a witness report of the remains discovered at Swim Beach near Boulder City at approximately 4:30 p.m., according to a news release from the park service.

Park rangers were on scene and have set a perimeter to recover the remains. The Clark County Medical Examiner has been contacted to determine the cause of death.

In May, two bodies were found that had surfaced as Lake Mead's water level has receded. One discovered inside a barrel had been determined to be from a homicide that occurred sometime in the 1970s or '80s. Police have speculated that more remains may be discovered as the water level has continued to decline.

The Park Service did not indicate the timing of death for the body found Monday.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
