Thanks to a jolt from the international segment, the Las Vegas airport welcomed nearly as many passengers last month as it did during the pre-pandemic month of May 2019, according to a news release.

Harry Reid International Airport, according to the release from the Clark County Department of Aviation, serviced just under 4.6 million arriving and departing passengers in May.

Last month’s figure was only about 6,900 passengers short of the May 2019 total.

May’s total was up 30% from the same month in 2021, when air travel trends were still lagging from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Through the first six months of this year, Harry Reid International has logged just under 19.6 million arriving and departing passengers, which represents a 62% increase from the first six months of 2021.

In 2019, the airport logged nearly 52 million passengers.

The figure for May received a boost from the over 240,000 international passengers that were counted.

For all of 2021, only about 758,000 international passengers arrived and departed from the airport, which was largely due to pandemic-related safety concerns.
