Weather service: High wind warning through 11 p.m. in Las Vegas

A high wind warning has been issued in the Las Vegas area and will remain in effect until 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The service at 6 p.m. said a wind gust of 64 mph was measured in the west part of the valley.

The strong winds and blowing dust can be a hazard to drivers, and officials are urging motorists to use caution — especially drivers on north-south roadways.

The dust storms are impacting travelers returning to Southern California from Las Vegas, as San Bernardino County had a dust storm warning through 6:45 p.m., according to the weather service.

It posted on Twitter, “If encountering dense blowing dust, remember to Pull Aside, Stay Alive!”

Additionally, a dust storm warning was issued in central Mohave County near Kingman, Ariz., to impact the drive between Southern Nevada and Arizona.
