Fire at Las Vegas apartment building displaces 5 adults, 12 children

A fire in an air conditioning unit spread to an apartment building and impacted three units, displacing five adults and 12 children, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Nobody was injured, officials said.

The fire was reported about 12:30 a.m. today in a ground air conditioning unit between two buildings in the 9100 block of Desert Inn Road, officials said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze but noticed smoke coming from a second-floor apartment, officials said.

Crews put out the fire that had spread to the apartment and impacted two other units, official said. A damage estimate was not released.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation, officials said.

The American Red Cross was assisting the displaced residents, officials said.

Firefighters from Clark County and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded, officials said.
