Scott Sibella is out as the president of Resorts World Las Vegas for violating company policy, officials said in a statement distributed to the Daily Mail.
The statement didn’t indicate what policy Sibella violated. Resorts World Chief Financial Officer Peter LaVoie has been elevated into the spot.
The statement read, “Resorts World Las Vegas today announced that president and COO Scott Sibella has left the company, effective immediately. This action comes after the company was recently made aware that Mr. Sibella violated company policies and the terms of his employment.”
Sibella in 2019 was hired to oversee the development of $4 billion Resort World project on the old Stardust site.
The project over 87 acres debuted in June 2021, raising hopes for a revival of the north Strip with its ruby red, 66-story towers. It spreads over 3,500 hotel rooms from three Hilton brands, a 5,000-seat theater, more than 40 places to eat and drink, 70,000 square feet of boutiques, a nightclub and day club, 1,400 slot machines, 117 table games and a 30-table poker room.
Sibella was previously president of MGM Grand for eight years. He also previously served as president Mirage and Treasure Island.
Sibella in February was cleared by the Nevada Gaming Control Board over Resort World’s relationship with a restaurant partially owned by a convicted felon.
LaVoie has been the property’s CFO since March. He previous spent two decades as an executive with MGM Resorts International.
