Woman hit and killed by pickup near Las Vegas Strip

A woman was killed after being hit by a pickup this morning in an area near the Las Vegas Strip, according to a Metro Police news release.

At about 10:20 a.m., a Chevrolet 3500 was waiting at a red light facing west on Palomino Lane preparing to turn right onto South Rancho Drive. As the truck turned, a 46-year-old pedestrian simultaneously entered the roadway, the release stated.

The woman was struck and traveled over by the truck, sustaining mortal injuries. Medical personnel determined she was beyond resuscitation and pronounced her dead at the scene.

The incident will not initially be counted as a traffic death until an official cause of death has been declared by the coroner’s office.
