Democrats slightly outgain GOP in Nevada as over 28,000 register to vote in March

With the 2024 presidential election looming in November, the number of registered voters rose in March, nearly half of whom declared as nonpartisan, according to a news release from the Secretary of State.

Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar reported an increase of 28,709 active registered voters in March in comparison to February.

The total number of registered voters in Nevada is 1,965,934, for an increase 1.48% in March, the release stated.

Among the two major parties, Democrats had slightly bigger gains, picking up 8,069, while Republicans added 7,943 voters. The ranks of nonpartisans rose the most in that time, gaining 11,804 voters. 

The Independent American Party gained 1,145 voters and the Libertarian Party added 100, the release stated.

Of the 1,965,934 active registered voters in Nevada:

  • 657,928 are Nonpartisan (33.47%);
  • 600,077 are Democrats (30.52%);
  • 567,221 are Republicans (28.85%);
  • 85,412 are members of the Independent American Party (4.34%);
  • 16,366 are members of the Libertarian Party of Nevada (0.83%); and
  • 38,930 are members of other minor political parties (1.98%).
