Las Vegas police: Suspect arrested in death of male found near dumpster

A man has been arrested in the death of a person found dead with a gunshot wound Sunday near a trash dumpster, according to Metro Police.

Jaron Amey, 35, was arrested Tuesday and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of open murder, police said.

He was picked up by a multijurisdictional task force after detectives identified him as a suspect through the course of investigation, police said.

Police said they received a report about 9:50 a.m. Sunday of an unresponsive male near a dumpster in the 5000 block of Maryland Parkway. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The victim was talking with several individuals in the area prior to the shooting, police said. The individuals all fled before officers arrived, police said.
