Police: Man riding homemade motorbike hit by car, killed in North Las Vegas

A man on a homemade motorbike was killed Wednesday when he rode through a crosswalk against a red light and was hit by a car, according to North Las Vegas Police.

The crash happened about 9 p.m. at Carey Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, police said.

The rider of the unregistered motorbike was crossing Carey when he was hit by the car, which was headed north on Martin Luther King and had a green light, police said.

The rider, an unidentified man believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release his name, police said.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and was not hurt, police said. Impairment was not believed to be a factor, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.

As a result of traffic coming to a stop on Martin Luther King after the crash, three other wrecks occurred, police said. No other injuries were reported, police said.
