Las Vegas police: Motorcyclist killed in crash with truck

A motorcyclist was killed today in a crash with a semi-truck, according to Metro Police.

The wreck was reported about 5:40 a.m. at South Jones Boulevard and West Sunset Road, police said. The intersection was closed in all directions, police said.

The motorcycle was headed east on Sunset, approaching the intersection, and the truck was westbound, attempting a left turn onto southbound Jones, police said. The crash occurred as both vehicles entered the intersection as the traffic signal changed from yellow to red, police said.

The motorcycle hit the left side of the truck, police said. The rider, a 50-year-old Las Vegas man, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name was not released, pending notification of his family, police said.

The truck driver, a 45-year-old Las Vegas man, stayed at the scene and did not display any signs of impairment, police said.

The investigation was ongoing, police said.
