Las Vegas police: Male fatally shot during altercation

A person was fatally shot during an altercation Thursday night northwest of downtown Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

The shooting was reported about 10:20 p.m. in the 1900 block of Alwill Street, police said.

Officers found a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The victim approached two people he did not recognize, police said. An altercation occurred, and one of the individuals pulled a handgun and shot the victim, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
