One dead in single-unit fire at apartments in Las Vegas

A person died in a fire at an apartment today, according to a Clark County Fire Department news release.

Crews arrived to the building shortly before 5 p.m., where they reported light smoke with no fire showing.

Firefighters found one person who had died from the fire. They were able to extinguish the blaze and confine it to a single unit, the release stated.

No other injuries were reported. Occupants from three adjacent units were displaced for a short period of time while the scene was examined.

The fire crew was assisted by Metro Police, the coroner’s office and NV Energy.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
