An excessive heat warning has been issued in Southern Nevada for Wednesday and Thursday, officials with the National Weather Service in Nevada said this afternoon.
There is a 77% chance of the temperature reaching 110 degrees on Thursday, they said. That would tie a record for the initial day of reaching 110 degrees, which also occurred on June 6 in 2010, the weather service said.
The service reminds residents to, “Check on neighbors & loved ones; ensure they have adequate cooling & plenty of water.”
The temperature cleared 100 degrees 67 times last year from June to August, the weather service said. It cleared 110 degrees nine times.
The low temperature was above 80 degrees for 40 days in that time frame, they said. There were just five days with measurable rain.
