Pedestrian hit by car, critically injured while crossing Las Vegas street

A pedestrian was hit by a car and critically injured Sunday night while crossing a street outside of a marked crosswalk and against the traffic signal, Metro Police said.

The incident happened about 9:30 p.m. as the male pedestrian was crossing Blue Diamond Road at South Cimarron Road, police said.

The pedestrian, who had not been identified, was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
