Police dog suffers stab wounds in Las Vegas incident, is expected to survive

A police dog was in intensive care after being injured during an incident this afternoon, according to a Metro Police news release.

K9 Enzo, about 3 years old, was stabbed during an incident involving a reportedly suicidal man with a knife at about 1 p.m. in the 1200 block of Las Vegas Boulevard. Enzo was deployed in attempts to subdue the man and was stabbed multiple times, the release stated.

The man was eventually taken into custody. He is expected to survive after suffering self-inflicted stab wounds.

Enzo was rushed to a nearby veterinary hospital before being airlifted to a veterinary trauma hospital, the release stated. He is in stable condition and is expected to live but will continue to receive treatment overnight in intensive care.
