Police: Motorist dies after rear-end collision on Las Vegas freeway

A motorist died after the car they were driving was rear-ended Sunday by speeding vehicle, according to Nevada State Police.

The crash happened about 4 a.m. on the eastbound 215 Beltway, west of the Jones Boulevard off-ramp, police said.

A car was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when it hit the other car from behind, police said. The cars both hit concrete barriers, one of the left side of the freeway and the other on the right side, police said.

The driver of the car that was struck from behind was taken to a hospital, where they were later declared dead, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the person’s name after the family is notified, police said.

No information was released about the driver of the other vehicle. The crash is under investigation, police said.
