School locked down after nearby shooting, North Las Vegas Police say

An elementary school was locked down today after two people threatened a motorist nearby and fired several rounds from a handgun, according to North Las Vegas Police.

No one was struck by any gunfire, and no injuries were reported, police said.

The incident occurred in the 3100 block of Emmons Avenue, which is just north of Tom Williams Elementary School, police said. The school was locked down as a precaution, police said.

One suspect surrendered, and the other fled into a home on Emmons Avenue, police said. A firearm was recovered, police said.

Clark County School District Police also responded to the incident, police said.
