Week 9 NFL picks for the Sun’s handicapping contest

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson passes against the Indianapolis Colts in the first half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, in Seattle.

The afternoon to evening slate of week 9 might be the most compelling set of games the NFL schedule has offered this season.

And while most of the anticipation surrounds a matchup between NFC favorites in New Orleans and the Los Angeles Rams, and a battle of all-time great quarterbacks in New England versus Green Bay, there’s another matchup just as important. Seattle and the Los Angeles Chargers are both current playoff teams, and look to strengthen their wild-card positions in a 1:05 p.m. kickoff from the Pacific Northwest.

The point spread is a pick’em at many Las Vegas sports books in a pairing between two streaking teams. The Seahawks have won two straight, covering in three consecutive, while the Chargers have strung together four victories.

It’s the game of the week in the Sun’s handicapping contest, meaning each competing sports writer must use one of six wagers off of the South Point betting board on the matchup.

Check below for all of their picks. Games are listed in order of their rotation numbers at sports books.
