LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Trump’s remarks are irresponsible

In its March 12 editorial, the Review-Journal took Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman to task for her statements about the coronavirus pandemic. What the paper’s editorial said was true. However, the same untruths told by the mayor have been daily fare for the president of the United States ever since this virus started being discussed months ago. The paper refuses to criticize this president, so I will.

Even today, after all the public criticism, President Donald Trump continues to tell us that testing for the virus is available and simple for all to obtain. He tells us the virus is just going to disappear any day now. He has just banned air travel from Europe. To what end? The pandemic is global and has already reached the United States.

Trump told the nation in a televised address that we all need to pull together to fight this virus, and the very next day he berated those who did not see how a payroll tax cut was going to help. He simply can not help himself in any attempt to speak the truth. For all our sakes, he should try to get himself tested and then go into voluntary isolation until this crisis works itself out.
