LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Gun deaths demand action

In response to the March 27 letter, “Gun control is un-American”: What is very American and unique to our country are gun slaughters.

Last year, there were 615 mass shootings with 521 dead and 2,541 injured. This year in just the first two months, not including the latest slaughters in March we are all too familiar with, there were 76 mass shootings with 78 dead and 252 injured.

The gun shootings of single individuals often don’t make it beyond the local news, but add them to the horrific toll to which we have become numb.

Here in Las Vegas, a record was set, with one man using military-style assault weapons to slaughter almost 60 people and injure hundreds more.

The letter writer should stick to his state of residence and not lecture other states with his twisted take.
