We did it again.
We didn’t learn anything from Vietnam, did we?
Months after we left Vietnam, the South Vietnamese couldn’t defend the South, and lives were lost for nothing as the North just moved in. At least they tried.
In Afghanistan, it took only a few weeks, and all those U.S. military lives once again were lost for nothing.
Afghanistan’s president didn’t even stick around.
The Taliban agreed not to interfere with our pullout, as they knew they’d have very little resistance once we left.
Now they are armed to the teeth with the billions of dollars of weapons we supplied that were left behind by the Afghan military.
We should have known.
